ORGANIZATIONS WE SUPPORT
AIDS Combat International, or ACI, is a NGO working in the field of HIV/AIDS for the past 20 years. The vision and mission of ACI is to improve the quality of life of HIV-infected widows and children and to reduce social stigma and discrimination through large awareness programs. ACI supports patients in Western suburbs of Mumbai through various projects such as:
• Medical support of HIV infected children and widows.
• Educational support to HIV infected and affected children.
• Free and subsidized anti-retroviral therapy to HIV infected widows and
children monthly.
• Regular awareness programs about HIV/AIDS for all sectors of society.
• Promote mother to child transmission prevention.
Nayanam – Glaucoma Project
A few years ago, ACI started a glaucoma project under the subdivision Nayanam. Projects include:
• Regular awareness and screening for glaucoma is done for different sectors of society.
• Nayanam also supports phaco cataract surgeries at Satabadi Hospital (Kandivali West) by providing foldable lenses to patients.
• ACI also supports retinal blindness surgeries, corneal transplants, and pediatric eye surgeries at charitable institutions
Other Projects
• Eye and skin donation services.
• Motorized wheelchairs and sports wheelchairs are given to special children through individual donors.
Niramaya Health Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring a disease free childhood, with a focus on preventing anemia and related malnutrition in children ages 2 to 10.
Their activities include making home visits to monitor progress, educating parents on proper nutrition, conducting health check- ups in the community and at schools, and providing protein and powder supplements.
Aarti Foundation, Inc. has been a proud supporter of Niramaya Health Foundation for the past several years.
Sanskar Tirth has been in existence for over 40 years. Their mission is to help young women develop self-confidence and independence through education and vocational training. They currently have 350 girls from various parts of Gujarat ranging from 5th to 12th grade. Their main activities are to provide education and training in computers, sewing, health, and beauty care. Recently, Sanskar Tirth started a nursing school. The majority of girls who have studied at this institution are now working as teachers, nurses, clerks, accountants, and computer operators.
Each year Aarti Foundation, Inc. has been proud to support 25 students.
Matrudham Charitable Eye Hospital has been in existence for over 20 years. Their main objective is to provide state-of-the art facilities for the poor and middle class who have problems with eye sight.
Activities include performing free eye surgeries and cataract operations and arranging eye camps that offer free eye exams, glasses, and medications.
